What Happened Last Episode
• Jack spends the season fighting for a major promotion at GE after his boss announces retirement. He navigates corporate rivalry with Devon Banks, and when Don Geiss finally chooses Jack as his successor, Don's sudden health crisis derails everything — ultimately leaving Jack demoted and eventually departing for a disappointing government job in Washington, D.C.
• Liz struggles with her personal life throughout the season, still getting over Floyd (who briefly reappears when his flight is canceled), going on a misguided date with a much-younger coffee boy, dealing with a pregnancy scare in the finale, and continuing to serve as the glue holding the chaotic TGS staff together.
• Jack begins a secret romance with C.C., a Democratic congresswoman, despite their polar-opposite political views. Their relationship hits turbulence over whether to go public and the strain of long distance, highlighting Jack's ongoing difficulty balancing his personal life with his ruthless professional ambitions.
• Tracy and Angie separate early in the season, with Kenneth stepping in as Tracy's "office wife" before helping reconcile the couple. Tracy's antics range from coaching little league as community service to being courted as the face of the Republican Party, while also grappling with insecurities about his relationship with his son.
• Jenna rides a rollercoaster of fame — first gaining weight for Mystic Pizza: The Musical and enjoying the unexpected popularity of being plus-sized, then panicking as she loses the weight and her newfound relevance along with it, underscoring her desperate need for the spotlight.
• Liz's idealism is tested when she invites her comedy hero Rosemary Howard to guest-write on TGS, only to discover Rosemary's ideas are wildly inappropriate, forcing Liz to confront the gap between her creative aspirations and the realities of network television.
• Kenneth remains the show's earnest heart — hosting his beloved annual party, competing in a page-off to save his job, battling a caffeine addiction, and squaring off against rival page Donny, all while keeping his unwavering optimism intact heading into the next season.
